HELLENIC SEAWAYS has been sailing the Greek seas since 1999 in its current form. It is the largest Hellenic maritime company, owning and operating 18 conventional and high speed vessels that connect more than 36 ports in the N.E. Aegean, the Cyclades, the Saronic Gulf and the Sporades.
The investment program
As of 2005, the company has embarked on a new course of development, implementing an extensive investment plan of integrating new ships and extending the destinations it serves.
In 2005, HELLENIC SEAWAYS added five new ships to its fleet: the newly built HIGHSPEED 5, the fastest passenger/vehicle ferry in the Aegean, with a maximum speed of 41 knots and a cruising speed of 38 knots, the newly built passenger/vehicle ferry NISSOS MYKONOS, built entirely in Greece, FLYINGCAT 5 and FLYINGCAT 6 (Catamaran ships), that replaced six flying dolphins (hydrofoils), and the Hellenic Voyager (Ro-Ro) that serves in transporting trucks.
In 2007, the company acquired 4 more ships: the newly built passenger/vehicle ferry NISSOS CHIOS, that was also built in Greece, the passenger/vehicle ferry ARIADNE and two Ro-Ro type ships, the Celtic Sun and the Hellenic Master.
HELLENIC SEAWAYS has successfully brought into effect the investment plan involving the purchase and building of 9 new ships, two among which entirely built in Greece, thus supporting the workers of the shipbuilding zone of Perama and the shipbuilding yards of Elefsina and Skaramagas, which proves the company's commitment to substantially support the Greek shipbuilding industry.
Furthermore, the company was expanded with great success to new coastal routes. In 2007 the newly built NISSOS CHIOS was routed to Piraeus - Chios - Mytilene. Within 2007, the refit of the super luxurious ship ARIADNE was also completed in Greece. It is the largest passenger/vehicle ferry in Hellenic coastal navigation in garage capacity, and was routed to Piraeus - Ikaria - Samos.
In 2016, HELLENIC SEAWAYS is extending its fleet to include the completely rebuilt HIGHSPEED 7 and HELLENIC HIGHSPEED as well as NISSOS SAMOS.
