A few words about Paros
Almost in the center of the Cyclades, emerges the pride of the Aegean Sea! Paros is a destination for all ages and tastes.
Its capital is called Parikia and not Chora as in most of the Greek islands, and is really worthwhile to be walked. Naoussa, built in a colorful cove competes Parikia for the title of the most popular place on the island.
Most of the beautiful and bustling beaches of Paros are on the north and east coasts. Golden Beach and New Golden Beach are ideal for sea sports and very popular for the windsurfing fans. Other remarkable beaches are Delfini, a very long beach with white sand and crystal-clear waters, Crios, Kolibithres, the most famous beach of Paros, with sand surrounded by rocks of impressive shapes, Parasporos, Agia Irini, Aliki, Drios, Farangas, Glifa and Logaras.
Paros has been famous since the ancient times for its local Parian marble, called "lichnitis", with which many masterpieces of ancient Greece have been sculpted, like the Hermes of Praxiteles and Venus of Milos.
So, it's worthwhile to see the famous marble island, sculpted by the winds and the sea, Naoussa of the pirates, Ai Giannis Detis, Panagia (Virgin Mary) Ekatontapiliani, the valley with the butterflies, the Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Art Museum.
